Redmond Rain . . . can soak into the ground!
Welcome to Overlake Village Station! Home to some interesting art and an amazing underground stormwater infiltration vault.
The cache is not at the posted coordinates. Instead, you will see some funky art that maybe is also seating. There are three concrete forms next to each other. One has "A" blue bumps. One has "B" yellow bumps. One has "C" green bumps.
You don't need to cross any fences, enter the tracks, or enter the light rail station.
The Final is located at: N 47° 38.1(A+B)(C-B)′ W 122° 08.3(A+C+C)(A+B)′
This walk will take you about 5 minutes round trip. Your starting point puts you at one end of a giant underground infiltration vault. Your ending point is just beyond the other end of the same vault.
FTF: DM&K Cachers
The City and Sound Transit partnered to construct this facility as part of the Overlake Village light rail station. Stormwater from the surrounding streets, including large parts of the Microsoft campus to the north, flows into this giant vault where the water can slowly soak into the ground. This process means that Sears Creek in Bellevue doesn't see the high intensity polluted stormwater from our City streets, or the hot stormwater runoff in the summer. Instead, the water is filtered by the soil and slowly works its way to the creek where it enters as cold, clean groundwater all year, making for happy fish!
