Geocache Description:

01 October 2024, 18:30 - 20:00

*** Please read the full description for info about bridge closures. As of 9 Sept, only day 1 of works, the routes described work perfectly. I'll post an update on 30 September if anything changes. Now, about the Event...***

Tuesday 1 October is World Postcard Day - who knew? Well, it seems that Geocaching HQ did and they are making a special souvenir available. However, unlike most souvenirs which just require a "find" of any type to qualify for, to get this one you need to attend an Event sometime between 29 September and 5 October. At the time of setting, the closest event within the date window was 230km away! Time to put that right with this evening event at a familiar location. Food is available and I have booked the separate rear area but the venue have asked that if more than 12 people wish to eat could they please pre-book - menu available on their website "www.trickyscornwall.co.uk". If you initially just want to indicate your wish to eat on your "will attend" log, I'll send another message out if numbers require pre-booking.

So come along and earn your souvenir while having a geochat, exchange TBs and maybe bring along your favourite postcard to show everyone.

***NOTE that there will be extensive works at the Avers Interchange starting on 9th September and due to last for 10 weeks and both bridges are likely to be closed. The A30 remains open but you may have to think about your route and/or follow diversion signs. Basically you will probably NOT be able to cross from North to South and vice versa.

So, if travelling from the East you can exit at Avers but will have to go down the old Redruth by-pass A3047, go across the mini-roundabout and turn right at the traffic lights. For your return journey you need to access the A30 from North Country, so go left out of the venue and right at the end of the road, up, down and up to North Country, turn right and then join the A30.

If coming from the West, simply exit off the A30 at Avers and go through North Country and on towards Illogan and turn left off Bassett Road. For your return, turn right out of the venue out to the A3047 then up to Avers where you can join the A30.

Other routes are available!
