"The One and Only Ivan", is a very good modern classic about a fictional Gorilla. It is based on a real life shopping mall/zoo gorilla. My kids chose the name for this container because of how much they loved and were moved by this story. A powerful tale, well told. Hope you enjoy meeting Ivan!
The cache itself should be easier to find than Beorn down the trail but please try and make sure the container stays safely hidden by leaving it attached where it is and just take log out. Tweezers recommended, byop too. If it doesn't stay in place and it is needed I'll adjust the method and/or the placement of attachment. Hope you enjoy the journey and a find!
Welcome to McTavish trail! This is our second cache along this trail, hoping that it will give people more reasons to come and enjoy a favourite trail of ours. It is a short walk, bike or in the winter snowshoe/ski and snowmobile trail. Our family calls it the 'Chickadee Trail' because in the winter chickadees will follow us and look for bird seed that often gets left out here for them. It is a great trail to visit in all four season, short enough for a quick bit of exercise and nature time. About 2 kilometers one way from one end to the other. While we use the trail in all seasons, fall or winter is our favourite time to be here. The trail sometimes get flooded (in spring of after rain storm) but only at the marshy end and even then it's not really deep. Rubber boots would be fine at those times and are usually not needed. The trail does not allow motorized vehicles ( other than snowmobiles in winter - and they are usually respectful of us skiers). Parking pretty easy at both ends of the trail.
