The 30-minute World Wide Flash Mob Caching Event
The World Wide Flash Mob Event: Hundreds of events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others (newbies) to geocaching. The event will last EXACTLY 30 minutes, not one second longer. It will begin precisely at 1 pm on Saturday September 14th, 2024 and end at 1:30 pm.
1:10pm: A single whistle will sound indicating cachers to converge at the posted coordinates. At this point, all geocachers will converge, seeming to come out of "nowhere". Before this time, please walk around the parking lot or sit in your cars and act like a muggle.
1:15pm: We will open and twirl umbrellas while being recorded and then a group photo will be taken.
1:25pm: Participants will sign the log sheet.
1:25pm-1:30pm: Hanging and talking with fellow cachers.
1:30pm: A double whistle will sound and the log sheets will be packed up and sealed away.
Suggestion: Please try and wear a blue shirt and bring an umbrella. Preferrably a colorful one, but any umbrella will do. Come early, to ensure that you do not miss the event. Although participants are welcome to get together after the event, the event will officially be over at 1:30pm. Afterwards, participants may chat, meet, eat and plan for a day of caching!
If you haven't done GoLI's Cache Machine yet, here is a prefect chance to do it with some friends. https://coord.info/GC928RV
The WWFM idea was started in 2007 after 2 cachers attended a mega-event. It was meant to be a fun “opposite” of a mega-event: all the cool aspects of a geocaching event, crammed into 15 minutes of excitement. An added dimension is represented by the letters "WW" - World Wide - these events occur across the planet on the same day at (mostly) the same time! These caching events are intended to bring geocachers together in a creative way, as well as introduce others (newbies) to the hobby.
