The CAA (Cache Across the Avenues) DC Edition: This is a series of caches that will take you on a caching tour of all four quadrants of the District of Columbia. One cache will be hidden on each of the 50 State Avenues (actually 48 Avenues + a Street and a Drive). These caches each contain a code word that will lead you to one final cache (to be placed) located in our nation's capitol upon completion of the series.
About this cache: The cache is located on Vermont Ave. in the neighborhood of Cardozo. Vermont Ave. runs from Lafayette Square to Florida Ave.
At GZ, you’ll be in front of the African American Civil War Memorial. The African American Civil War Memorial is the only national memorial to honor the contributions of the United States Colored Troops (USCT) and sailors during the Civil War. Inscribed on the Wall of Honor are the names of more than 185,000 black soldiers and sailors and 7,000 white officers who bravely fought the forces tearing the union apart. The centerpiece of the memorial is the Spirit of Freedom statue, a bronze statue depicting three infantrymen and a sailor defending freedom. Make sure you take a moment to visit the memorial.
