Join the Golden Horseshoe Monthly Geocaching Club (GHMGC) for an afternoon of sledding fun on Monday, February 17, 2025 (Family Day).
This is the 183rd monthly event for the Golden Horseshoe Monthly Geocaching Club (GHMGC) and also our 16th annual sledding event.
8th Line is closed in the winter months. A few people, including us, come here and use 8th Line as a giant sledding hill, however not many people know about it. It's about 300m from the top to the bottom and about 50m of elevation change. This is one of Halton Hills best kept secrets during the winter.
This event is open to all geocachers young and old. Bring the family and bring your sleds, toboggans, snow racers, magic carpets, snow boards or whatever you choose (due to the turns and speed of this hill, tubes are NOT recommended as they are difficult to control). The road is not too wide and there are some slight turns near the top and the bottom so practice your steering (use your hands to steer and slow down. If you use your feet, you'll most likely get a face full of snow.) Also be careful of the dropoff\ditch on the side of the road.
Event is from 12pm to 2pm at the posted coords (2/3 of the way up the hill). Stay as long as you like or until you get tired of walking up the hill.
Parking\How to get here:
Approach from Hwy 7, take 22 Sideroad and then turn left onto 8th Line and drive to the end where the barricades are. Park there and walk with your family and sled up the hill. Do not approach from 27th Sideroad as the road does not go through from there and you would be in for a longer walk.
This is our 16th annual GHMGC sledding event...This might be the longest running annual event in Ontario now.
