The Caribbean in Michigan
This event will kickoff & close a "live" game of "Caribbean". Your challenge, should you accept, is to gather with other members of your crew. Select the Captain, plan the voyage to collect treasure cards from around the park. However, beware of Pirates. Pirates will cost your team points!
Hidden in various sites throughout the Waterloo Recreation Area are treasure chests that contain treasure cards. Each member of your crew is entitled to one treasure card from each treasure chest. Keep it sealed until your voyage ends and you return to port (Deer Lake Pavilion area).
Gather at 9:00am at the Event site, event registration packets will be available for those that haven’t picked them up yet. During this first hour of the Community Celebration Event, you will gather with your team to prepare for your adventure. Each Camp MiGO name tag will identify which of the 10 Caribbean teams you have selected or been assigned. Don’t like your team, well in the 1600’s many pirates didn’t like their team either but were conscripted to service. Don’t worry, there will be NO Keel-hauling or plank walking allowed! You will have the opportunity to select a team when you register. If you did not pre-register, no worries, we will randomly assign you to a team. (Please pre-register here!)
Pre-registration will close July 15th!
Meet the members of your new team, remember there’s another game within the game to meet 15 new cachers you haven’t met before! Elect your captain, and plan your strategy!
At 10:00am, an Adventure will release and you’ll set sail for parts unknown. Look for the treasure chest and each crewman may take one envelope from the chest. There are 10 chests and 10 colored envelopes. Each crewman may have up to 10 colored envelopes in their possession, no more!
Return to the Event HQ before 15:00 (3:00pm) and provide your envelopes to your Captain. This is the second half of this special Community Celebration Event. The team Captain will then meet with the Treasure Team (at 15:00) and count your loot. The team with the most treasure will win.
In the event of a tie, the team that collects the least number of Pirate cards will be the winner.
In the event of a continuing tie, the team with the most high point treasure cards will be the winner.
In the event that everything is exactly the same the Captains will square off in a duel to the death! (Well, Rock, paper, scissors, maybe)
Winners will be announced, prizes will be awarded!
Note: Donations will be accepted to defray the cost of prizes. All participants will receive a limited edition path tag, and there's a Chris Mackey exclusive coin to each member of the winning team. Teams are limited to 12 participants each.
