This is a Community Celebration Event. We are so fortunate to have a mix of well seasoned cachers in this area, as well as "newbies." So often we are out on a run and really don't have much time to chat, face to face, about the finer points of caching expertise. Now is the perfect time!
If you haven't read the blogs that were published 7-1-25 about the Treasure Collections being activated in July - Tools of the Trade on 7-8 and Making Memories on 7-21 and the Making Memories Leaderboard campaign, July 21 - Aug 17, you should. And there's news about the souvenirs available in July/Aug for International Geocaching Days. Lots of fun to be had and seeking to be done.
TOTTs R Us!
Since 1-1-25 when the CCE events were handed out, I've been debating what theme would be perfect. In June, I finally decided on TOTTs as they fascinate me. Then the blogs on 7-1 telling all about the new Treasures Collection Tools of the Trade, being activated on July 8th... that clinched it. It's all about the TOTTs! While this CCE event won't qualify for that Treasure, it should work for the Making Memories Treasure Collection AND by logging the event as attended it will give you 3 points on the Leaderboard.
Back to TOTTs. Truly, we need TOTTs more than they need to lugged around in a bag, at the ready should we need something in particular to gain access to a log to sign. And that's really the goal, isn't it? To sign the log and get a yellow smiley face in return for your efforts.
Let's get together for a bit and talk about TOTTs. What's your favorite? What's in your TOTT bag? I'm assuming most cachers carry an assortment of interesting gadgets. Maybe even something that wouldn't be normally considered a "tool." What item have you used the most often? What one could have been the difference between logging a "found it" or "couldn't get the log because I didn't have the correct impliment to gain access?" Bring your best device and show it off. Maybe it will be something that no one else has thought to carry. Sort of a "Show & Tell" time to share your sage advice.
So please plan on stopping by this adorable little pocket park and join me under the shelter at the picnic table, at the west end. It has no facilities - bathroom, parking lot, or drinking fountain. Street parking only. And bring your tales of conquest and TOTTs.
