A little history first:
The Little Androscoggin River is part of the larger Androscoggikn River in Maine. It has a rich history tied to Native American settlement, European colonization, and industrial development. The river's formation and its impact on the landscape are directly linked to the retreat of glaciers during the last ice age, creating fertile "intervales" along the riverbanks. The river's history is marked by periods of abundance and resource exploitation, as well as by environmental challenges and, more recently, restoration efforts.
Currently the Little Androscoggin River is for use as an outdoor recreation park. Paddling (bring your Kayak for exploring the river), Picnicking (bring a chair and a lunch), Fishing (don't forget your pole), Wildlife photography (some great views along the river), Dog's are welcome to enjoy the trails along the river (As always pickup after them). This will be rain or shine so be prepared. There is a Pavillion and I will have a table setup for trackables for anyone that has anything to share. There should be plenty of parking. There is a EV charger so please leave room for those who need it.
Come join me for this summer event for all of us to gather once again and enjoy the outdoors. There is also a variety of caches while here on your visit to enjoy during your time.
We will be celebrating the 25 year anniversary of GeoCaching! If you have not attended a community celebration event for 2025, you will have the opportunity to earn a 2025 Community Celebration Souvenir.
