The cache is not at the posted coordinates. Parking is available at the Centennial Trail’s Samelius Trailhead on US Highway 16. There are several additional caches within walking distance so be prepared to find them also. This cache has a field puzzle as well. You will need to solve a cube maze puzzle to open the container to sign the log. Your signature must be on the log to claim the find. Rain, snow, or cold temperature may affect your success at this cache.
I originally set this up as a challenge cache. I am not good at challenge caches, so I went to Project GC and located a few candidates to clone. The one I selected was quite old and the reviewer pointed me to a new rule which I had read, but did not comprehended. Once I reread the rule, I understood why that Challenge clone was not available for this cache. Strike One!
In addition, when I cloned the challenge, somehow it kept its original GC code which of course is not allowed either. Strike Two!
So back to the challenge lists I went to find a new challenge. I found a couple great ones, but I was always just short of qualifying myself so I could not use them. Finally, I found an excellent challenge. Of course, things continued to go bad when I discovered the original Challenge Checker I used was assigned to this cache and a new checker could not be cloned. Strike Three! I was out and demoralized.
Just then, my puzzler called with an update on puzzle possibilities. I mentioned this cache including using Samelius Trailhead for parking. “Aha,” came the reply, “Samelius was a famous baseball player.” (I never could verify that, but the puzzler always knows everything so it is best not to argue.) The puzzler quickly explained Samelius’ amazing curve balls and a plan that could salvage this GC code as a Puzzle instead of a Challenge. Since I was about to dump the GC code into the algorithm recycle bin for HQ to deal with, this news piqued my interest. The puzzler quickly made my lump of coal challenge cache into a diamond of a puzzle cache and made it a double play puzzle for your enjoyment. What a guy that puzzler!! Puzzler sez all you need for the coordinates is numbers. (I guess that means you have the letters already.) Since it is baseball, I included the teamwork attribute, but I will never underestimate a solo player.
