On February 6, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II celebrated 70 years on the throne, marking her as the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee The Commonwealth Walkway is Canada’s tribute to this milestone event where individual provinces have undertaken their own commemorations.
The 1 km walkway in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador is located on the grounds of Government House in the Capital City of St. John’s and was designed to link and interpret local heritage, engage people in shared history and tradition, and, in doing so, promote the Commonwealth principles and values of diversity, equality and friendship by brininging people together.
