Dette er en av flere WHERIGO REVERSE geocacher som inngår i GEOARTEN LOFOTEN (LOWR).
Geoarten LOFOTEN utgjør hele D/T matrisa, altså 81 cacher og er lagt ut av Hilsju, Hegenor og Team Trolh.
Ingen av cachene ligger på oppgitte koordinater, så her må du løse oppgaven til hver enkelt cache for å få lurt fram de rette koordinatene, og oppgavene i hver vanskelighetsgrad er nokså like. Alle cachene skal være mulig å løse hjemmefra, slik at dere som bor langveisfra kan legge ferien til vakre Lofoten.
De aller fleste cachene ligger langs hovedveien, mens noen er det ca 200m å gå, men vi anbefaler gode sko til det svært varierende terrenget. Ekstrautstyr av ymse slag kan også være nyttig til de cachene som har høyest T-rating, altså T4,T4,5 og T5 , altså stige og geoextraktor, og det kan også være greit å ha med matpakke og drikke med seg, og det er få eller ingen muligheter for toalett i området.
Penn kan også være lurt å ta med seg, da ingen av cachene har skrivesaker,og man ønsker et smilefjes på kartet.
Fotologger godtas i utgangspunktet ikke, og det er fint om bilder i loggene ikke gir tips om hvor selve cachen er plassert.
Denne Wherigo'en er en virtuell versjon av "Reverse Cache Box". Den vil fortelle deg avstanden til cachen, men ikke retningen. Du kan starte søket fra hvilket som helst sted i verden. Når vi likevel er på roadtrip gjennom Lofoten, må du passere dette området.
På dette stedet ble det funnet et langt hus fra 500-tallet, som er den lengste kjente bygningen fra Europa fra denne tidsepoken. Huset har hatt plass til mange mennesker og rundt 50 dyr. Lederne her har drever handel og hatt allianser med gode forbindelser sørover i Europa. Funn av både potteskår og skinnende gubber kan bekrefte dette.
I dag vil et besøk i dette området fortelle deg mye fra den tiden. Det er også festivaler her flere ganger i året.
Like ved finner du et nybygg av kirka som brant ned, der arkitekturen har blitt sammenlignet med både en hoppbakke og romferga “Challenger”.
Det lille gatekjøkkenet her er populært blant de lokale rånerne, og andre, til og med Kronprinsen har spist hamburger her.

Stedet vi nå skal til har snudd hodet rundt på mange besøkende, når de har funnet veien ut til dette koselige tettstedet. I Lofoten har det vært mye aktiviteter under WW2, noe som man også kan se spor etter her, selv om det ikke er den største lokaliteten. Det ser nesten ut som en festning ved parkeringen vår. Det er svært værhardt her og mange skjær i sjøen, og at det finnes både båter og moloer her, er utenfor vår forståelse, men det hjelper jo med en fyrlykt i havna.
En som har gitt ut en liten bok om Lofoten, har skrevet om havna: “ ... havet her, skal ingen ro, som ikke kjenner det.” En ganske god advarsel til folk som seilte i ukjent farvann.

Videre trenger vi litt luft i håret, eller vann, kanskje? Hva med en tur til ei av Lofotens mest kjente strender for en spesiell aktivitet, der det til og med har vært holdt både store og viktige mesterskap i sporten, og det er ikke få kjendiser fra både inn og utland, ja til og med han tidligere nevnte Haakon har vært i vannet her.
I tillegg tilbys det ikke mindre enn Verdens største og beste kanelsnurr her, og det kan vi skrive under på at er heeeeelt sant

Kanelsnurren kan selvfølgelig pakkes i tursekken, for på denne litt lengre turen opp til høyeste punkt, som består av tre topper. Etter tre timer opp, har vi både melkesyre i lårene og sure søringer i ryggen. Da må man ha en velfortjent matpause, mens man nyter man utsikten , som er helt formidabel. Den sure er nå blitt svært søt, og vi diskuterer om vi skal opp på alle tre eller bare en av toppene.
På en av toppene befinner det seg en imidlertid en installasjon som bidrar til økt sikkerhet i luftrommet rundt Lofoten, og denne er plassert på den høyeste punktet. Men det er ikke ønskelig at man går til denne.

This is one of several WHERIGO REVERSE geocaches that are part of the GEOART "LOFOTEN" (LOWR).
Geoart LOFOTEN makes up the entire D/T matrix, 81 caches and has been placed by geocachers Hilsju, Hegenor and Team Trolh.
None of the caches are located at given coordinates, so you have to solve the task for each individual cache to get the correct coordinates, and the tasks in each degree of difficulty are fairly similar. All the caches should be able to be solved from home, so that those of you who live from far away can spend your holiday in beautiful Lofoten making smileys.
The vast majority of caches are located along the main road, while some need a walk for up to 200m , but we recommend good shoes for the highly variable terrain. Additional equipment of various kinds can also be useful for the caches with the highest T-rating, i.e. T4, T4,5 and T5, like a ladder and geoextractor.
It might also be a good idea to take a pen with you, as none of the caches have stationery, and you want a smiley face on the map.
Photo logs are basically not accepted, and it is nice if pictures in the logs do not give hints about where the cache itself is located.
This Wherigo is a virtual version of the "Reverse Cache Box". It will tell you the distance to the cache, but not the direction. You can start your search from anywhere in the world. Your task is to find the cache by asking your Reverse Cache box for the distance to the final location. Try to use the Reverse Cache Box as few times as possible. All necessary instructions can be found in the game, which is multilingual.

Where are we going? Lofoten Edition, day 4
When we are still on a road trip through Lofoten, you must pass this area.
On this site, a long house from the 6th century was found, which is the longest known building from Europe from this era. The house has had room for many people and around 50 animals. The leaders here have conducted trade and had alliances with good connections to the south of Europe. Finds of both pot shards and shiny old men can confirm this.
Today, a visit to this area will tell you a lot about that time. There are also festivals here several times a year.
Nearby you will find a new building of the church that burned down, where the architecture has been compared to both a ski jump and the space shuttle "Challenger".
The small fast food restaurant here is popular among the locals, and others, even the Crown Prince, has eaten hamburgers here.

The place we are now going to has turned the heads of many visitors when they have found their way out to this cozy town. In Lofoten, there was a lot of activity during WW2, which you can also see traces of here, although it is not the largest locality. It almost looks like a fortress by our parking lot. The weather is very harsh here and there are many reefs in the sea, and the fact that there are both boats and breakwaters here is beyond our understanding, but it certainly helps to have a lighthouse in the harbour.
Someone who has published a small book about Lofoten has written about the harbour: "... the sea here, no one who doesn't know it should row." A pretty good warning to people sailing in uncharted waters.

Furthermore, we need some air in the hair, or water, perhaps? How about a trip to one of Lofoten's most famous beaches for a special activity, where both major and important championships in the sport have even been held, and there are not a few celebrities from both home and abroad, yes even the aforementioned Haakon has been in the water here.

The cinnamon roll can of course be packed in the backpack, because on this slightly longer trip up to the highest point, which consists of three peaks. After three hours up, we have both lactic acid in our thighs and sour southerners in our backs. Then you must have a well-deserved lunch break, while you enjoy the view, which is absolutely formidable. The sour has now become very sweet, and we are debating whether we should climb all three or just one of the peaks.
On one of the peaks, however, there is an installation that contributes to increased safety in the airspace around Lofoten, and this is located at the highest point. But it is not desirable that one goes to this.
