To find stage 1 you must use a special type of map called an orienteering map to navigate to it. Orienteering is a sport that originated in Sweden in the late 19th century. Originally it was a drill used by the Swedish Army to practice navigation skills. The sport arrived in America in 1941 and Orienteering USA was created shortly after. Nowadays it is a sport that tens of thousands of people do and enjoy.
To read this map you must understand a few things:
- Olive green is private property
- Tan is roads
- Lines of squares (White or Tan) are stairs
- Orange is a park
- Green is thick trees in a park
- Blackish squares are large buildings
- Gray is a canopy
- Black dashed lines are trails
-White is thin trees in a park
You next must orientate the map north. So you would point the top of your map north and bottom south.
Now you must navigate. The start is the purple triangle and stage 1 is the double circle. Plan a route down the tan roads until you reach the double circle. Now follow your chosen route on foot with your orienteering map to guide you. Stage 1 is on a drinking fountain.
Stage 1 is just a string of numbers that says Geocache on it. We will call it AB.C for math purposes. Once you find them you will need to do some math to get the final gps cords. The cords for final are: N 47° 37. (886.5 - AB.C)′ W 122° 20. (886.5 + AB.C)′
The final is a location that sometimes lots of muggles like to visit so find the cache discreetly.
No pencil/pen is included so bring one. Also don't bring trackables here as they won't fit.
