
The Royal Society of Victoria (RSV) is our State’s scientific society, founded in 1854. The Society convenes an independent community of science practitioners, educators, industrialists and enthusiasts to promote the understanding and utilisation of scientific knowledge for the benefit of the State of Victoria. The organisation is located on Wurundjeri land in a heritage-listed building, designed by renowned Melbourne architect Joseph Reed (Melbourne Town Hall, Royal Exhibition Building) and built in 1859 at 8 La Trobe Street, Melbourne. Geography Victoria is an affiliate of The Royal Society of Victoria. It was formed in 2021-2022 just over 100 years after the original Royal Geographical Society of Victoria folded in the 1920s. The purpose of Geography Victoria is to bring together people of all ages and from all walks of life to share in a range of geographical experiences aimed at developing a deeper understanding of the community and environment. Geocaching Victoria is passionate about providing opportunities for the geocaching community to connect, create life-long friendships and enjoy unique geocaching experiences. The organisation is a not-for-profit incorporation, run purely by volunteers that seeks to promote the pastime of geocaching in the State of Victoria.
