Answer following questions.
1) Post a photo near the posted coordinates. Your face doesn't need to be in the photo. A signature item or paper with geocaching name on it can be used instead of face.
2) On the rock find a rust colored spot and use the magnet you brought. Is the rust magnetic?
3) What does the rust (iron oxide) feel like? What color or color is it?
The posted coordinates will take you two large rocks. The rocks have red/brown stains and streaks. Reminds me of rust, like on older vehicles in the midwest.

Definition
Iron oxide - an oxide of iron, in particular ferric oxide, a dark red solid which occurs as the mineral hematite and as the main component of rust.
Hematite
This iron oxide mineral is widespread in nature, especially in sedimentary environments. Hematite is responsible for the reddish color of sand, soil, and red granite. It's also used as a pigment in red, purple, and brown paints.
Rust, or iron oxide, is a compound formed when iron reacts with oxygen in the presence of water or moisture in the air.
Have you ever wondered why you see some rocks or soil with rust streaks on them. Hematite is in the rock. When the hematite is exposed to oxygen, and moisture it can change into iron oxide. Now when you think of iron you think a magnet can stick to it. Or be attracted to it. Iron is magnetic but is iron oxide?
Thanks for visiting. Remember bring a small magnet.
Fossil park is open daily 8:00 am until one half hour prior to sunset. Some holidays gate will be closed. See website for more information.
