Mary Jemison was known as "The White Woman of the Genesee". She was captured and traded to the Seneca Indains, and they renamed her, Dahgewanis. She spent many years on this land, we call Letchworth State Park.
Many Native American tribes considered the pinecone as a sacred symbol. They believed it represented wisdom, inner vision, and enlightenment.
Do you think Mary Jemison believe this about the pine cone? Please be carefull while you are at ground zero not to destoy any pine cones.
A special thank you to Doug Kelly, who continues to allow us place cahes at Letchworth State Park and for approving this geocache! Permit # LSP-120.
