בשנת 1933, כשבמושבה היו כ- 400 נפש בלבד, חקלאים ופועלים, מתעורר הצורך בין המתישבים להקמת בית עם לצרכי תרבות שונים.
לאחר דיון בועד המושבה ומו"מ עם פיק"א, נבחר השטח המתאים ופיק"א מעבירה לרשות הועד מגרש בתמורה ל-10 מא"י (מיל ארץ ישראלי) לדונם.
הרעיון היה להקים מבנה שישמש להופעות והקרנת סרטים בחורף, ובצמוד לו אמפי פתוח. המחשבה היתה שבימות הקיץ אולם הקולנוע הסגור יהיה הבמה להופעות באמפי, שיכיל 1500 מקומות ישיבה, ש- 500 מתוכם יהיו על הרצפה ללא מושבים.
בשנת 1934 פונה ועד המושבה לעשרה אדריכלים בארץ ומבקשם להציע תכניות לבנית בית העם ואמפיתיאטרון.
פרטי דרישות ועד המושבה שהועברו לאדריכלים המתכננים לבנית האמפי היו: במה, ריצוף עבור 500 מקומות ישיבה, גידור פרוביזורי וזול, גודל הבמה כ 150-200 מ"ר. הבמה תשמש גם כאולם סגור להרצאות, הצגות, אסיפות וקולנוע, והאולם עצמו ישמש כבמה בימות הקיץ.
לאחר כשנתיים דנים חברי הועד בתוצאות התחרות שהוכרזה ובהערות האדריכלים, ולאחר בחינת כל התכניות ונימוקים נבחרה תכניתו של אדריכל הרי רוזנטל.
In 1933, when there were only about 400 people in the settlement, farmers and laborers, the need arises among the settlers to establish a community center for various cultural needs.
After a discussion in the settlement committee and negotiations with PICA, the appropriate area was chosen and PICA transferred a plot of land to the authority of the committee in exchange for 10 Mai (Israeli mil) per dunam.
The idea was to build a building that would be used for concerts and film screenings in the winter, with an open amphitheater next to it. The thought was that during the summer days the closed cinema hall would be the stage for performances in the amphitheater, which would contain 1500 seats, of which 500 would be on the floor without seats.
In 1934, the council of the colony turned to ten architects in Israel and asked them to propose plans for building the People's House and an amphitheater.
The details of the requirements of the colony committee that were passed on to the architects planning the building of the amphitheater were: a stage, flooring for 500 seats, temporary and cheap fencing, the size of the stage is about 150-200 square meters. The stage will also be used as a closed hall for lectures, plays, meetings and cinema, and the hall itself will be used as a stage the summer
After about two years, the members of the committee discuss the results of the announced competition and the architects' comments, and after examining all the plans and reasons, the plan of architect Hari Rosenthal was chosen.
