Geocache Description:

The old WVU football stadium, known as Mountaineer Field, was once located in downtown Morgantown, serving as the home of West Virginia University football from 1924 until 1979. Situated near the heart of the campus, it was a central hub for Mountaineer sports and student life for decades. The intimate setting, with the city and university surrounding it, created an electric atmosphere for fans. As the popularity of WVU football grew, so did the need for a larger facility, leading to the construction of the new Milan Puskar Stadium in 1980. Although the original Mountaineer Field no longer exists, it holds a cherished place in the memories of fans who experienced its historic moments. The site now houses the Life Sciences Building, marking a new chapter for the location while preserving its legacy in Mountaineer history.
