The Foulertoun Arches bridge which carries the A71 over the River Irvine to the south east of Irvine's town centre. It opened on 14th May 2010, replacing a bailey type bridge which had been installed as a temporary measure in 1972. The name seems to be derived from the nearby Fullerton area of Irvine, and refers to the two steel arches which support the bridge deck from above in a bowstring type structure.
