Geocache Description:

The approach to GZ is easiest done whilst driving northwards. If heading south then you must drive past the layby entrance and turn around. That can be done by either turning right into Forest Lakes Road and then doing a U-turn, or else there is an official turning spot at the bottom of the hill.

PLEASE do not attempt this cache unless you are confident of being able to replace the cache exactly as found (not lower, or in an easier spot!)

Let's be clear here, this is NOT a tree climbing cache. You will however need to use some specialised equipment whether it be commercially bought or else (as my first one was) knocked together using things found in your garage or shed (maybe).

The co-ordinates have been checked several times, but under tree cover I cannot guarantee accuracy as being better than within 5-6 metres.

I do NOT recommend doing this cache during the hours of darkness simply for the use of torches so near to the main road.

You are currently standing on what used to be SH1, before it was realigned as it is today. As such this is a quiet spot, so stealth shouldn't be much of an issue although sometimes cars will park up near the concrete barrier and anyone inside would have a clear view of you.

As per the Groundspeak guidelines regarding Difficulty and Terrain  6.13. Ratings for difficulty and terrain (D/T)  the Difficulty rating relates to the effort needed to find the cache and logbook, given the fact that it is in a tree, and the Terrain rating reflects the physical effort to get to the co-ordinates (but not to the cache) and sign the log. Yes, some of you will grumble at this, but this is how Groundspeak want it to be.

This was further emphasised through the Groundspeak publication Ask Signal Volume 3, which specifically states that if your feet remain on the ground then the D rating refers to the complexity of obtaining the cache.

Remember, like with all of my caches, this is supposed to be fun so if you are having an issue then contact me or walk away. Life is too short to get frustrated over something as subjective as having to get every cache.

Please don't risk harm to yourself in trying to retrieve the cache. I don't consider hospital visit a fun activity for any night of the week.

Feel free to tell me what you thought of this one, either in your logging or else via a message, I don't bite :)
