In the spirit of the season, we'd like to invite you all to
SOGeo's White Elephant Ornament Exchange
Holiday Party 3!
You're all invited to join us in the Meyer Memorial Trust Community Meeting Room at the Phoenix Branch of the Jackson County Library Services, Saturday, December 7th, from 1:30 - 3:30 pm for an afternoon of holiday games and treats!

A White Elephant Gift Exchange is a popular Christmas event where people vie to walk away with the best present. It also goes by Yankee Swap, Dirty Santa, and a plethora of other names. The White Elephant game is played by a lot of different rulesets – some dead simple and others confusingly elaborate. Here's an example closer to what we'll be following:
White Elephant Gift Exchange Rules
A quick recap of sample rules:
- Everybody needs to bring a wrapped ornament gift worth no more than a specified amount ($5-10)
- Make sure that the ornaments are wrapped and don’t have any names on them – secrecy is key!
- Numbers are drawn to determine who goes first and who follows next.
- Person Number 1 chooses a random gift from the pile and unwraps it. Person Number 2 has the option to steal the unwrapped gift or open a new one.
- If your ornament is stolen, you can choose another gift from the pile.
- There’s a maximum of 2 steals per gift, (ie a gift can only be stolen twice before it’s locked in)
- The game ends once everyone has an ornament.
-
We invite everyone to bring their favorite holiday treats to share in a potluck setup. We will be making and bringing some delicious treats to share as well! We will have coffee and hot water for tea/cocoa on site as well.
-
We're aiming to keep this simple with a cap of $5-10 on your gift ornament for the exchange. Please be sure and wrap it to keep it a surprise for the lucky person who chooses your gift!
-
Please remember that you can only take part in the exchange if you bring an ornament to swap.
