Welcome to the Newport Library. A home away from home. This cache is being placed in honor of my four adventurous kids, who all love to read. Nature and books go hand in hand for us, whether knee deep in a stream with a book in hand, learning how to accomplish some skill or identify some natural beauty, or even just lost in a story in a hammock, sitting in a tree or high on a rock.
The GZ does not bring you to the final coordinates, but you don't have far to go. Here stands a monument of Sarah Hale who was an author and activist. Take a moment to read the plaque about her accomplishments and take note of the book described on the plaque. Once you have found that information, you can go inside the library.
The cache is found inside of the building, with permission given by the librarians. Library hours are:
Monday 1-6
Tuesday - Thursday 10-8
Friday 10-6 and Saturday 10-2
Closed Sundays
The parking lot and building is handicap accessible.
Use the library computer to find Sarah's book. They are in two locations, one of which you cannot access.. The location of our copy is on the first floor. Nearby are Signal and his friends, who come here daily for their poetry club. They will help you find the cache (stools available around the room if needed, just have a look) and will also help you get into the container that blends in very well with its surroundings.
Ftf gets first pick of some nice bookmarks and bracelets. I hope you enjoy the atmosphere and architecture of this beautiful building.
