O Tanque da Pedreira
🇵🇹 Os tanques comunitários, ou lavadouros comunitários, são locais simbólicos. Estes lugares de muita memória que hoje parecem estar irremediavelmente condenados ao abandono, deveriam ser tidos em conta, no seu cadastro e na promoção simbólica das muitas histórias ali ditas e que o silêncio hoje tenta contar.
Seja na “água fria, da ribeira, água fria que o sol aqueceu”, como imortalizou na sua cantiga a Beatriz Costa, seja nos tanques com torneira de abastecimento, aproveitando nascentes ou passagens de cursos de água, os lavadouros públicos, para além dos fins a que se destinavam, serviam de ponto de encontro das mulheres em momentos de convívio social, enquanto esfregavam lençóis e faziam o curioso exercício, de duplo significado, que era “lavar a roupa suja em público”. Aliás, este exercício ainda hoje é promovido, mas de outras formas.
Neste lavadouro na rua António Ferreira Gomes em Gondomar, ainda se mantem a tradição, mas sem a concorrência de outrora, hoje em dia em número muito reduzido de lavadeiras a utilizarem o local, que já não precisam chegar muito cedo para obter lugar, e esperar horas para lavar a roupa com o sabão azul ou clarim, quando a água do tanque que nunca falta.
É certo que, com o aparecimento das máquinas de lavar roupa, os lavadouros públicos, locais simbólicos e de muita memória foram, a pouco e pouco abandonados e desprezados.
Cuidar deste património é importante para se poder mostrar às gerações futuras como era a vida anteriormente.

It is true that, with the emergence of washing machines, public washrooms, symbolic places with a lot of memory, were gradually abandoned and neglected.
