About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
As this is now a Heritage station rather then a regular passenger train line, it is a REALLY Sidetracked cache
Nilma Station
Nilma is a closed station on the Orbost railway line in the town of the same name in Victoria, Australia. It was originally named Bloomfield but was changed to Nilma in 1909, due to confusion with Broomfield railway station near Creswick, on the Ballarat to Daylesford railway line.
Nilma Station was opened on Friday, 5th May 1882 and it was closed on .Sunday, 10th June 1951, it is 103 Kilopmetres from Melbourne, The Up station is warragul, and the current down station is Yarragon (but the down station was Darnum whilst open.
Nilma started as a flag station when opened in 1885 and the 'proper' station was built soon after that. A flag station is one where the train only stops if it is signalled to do so by someone on the platform, using a red flag or, at night, a lantern. By 1951 the roads, and the nearness of Warragul were such that the station was poorly used and was closed.
