Saturday 26 October 2024, 10:30 - 11:00
'm planning on visiting Scotland at the end of October, and will travel on the newly reopened railway line to Leven. To make the trip worthwhile, I'm planning this event so I can meet local cachers. The event will take place on Saturday 26th October between 10.30 and 11.00 am at the south end of the promenade, a short walk from the station. There is parking here, and should be some shelter if required.
Leven was originally an intermediate station on the Fife Coast Railway, which ran from Thornton, the current junction, via St Andrews to Leuchards, south of the Tay Bridge. The line closed to passengers in the 1960s, though the line between Thornton and Leven remained open for freight traffic, serving Cameronbridge distillery and Methil power station. Preliminary work on reopening the line started in 2020, and Leven station reopened as a terminus on 2 June 2024.
I look forward to meeting you at Leven.
