Life's messy. Let's clean it up!
What is pie? According to Webster's Dictionary, pie is "a dessert consisting of a filling, in a pastry shell or topped with pastry or both". That seems pretty vague. I mean, by that definition, s'mores are pie. And I'm perfectly fine with that. So, what about Pi? Pi is defined as "the symbol π denoting the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, and / or the ratio itself; a transcendental, irrational number having a value rounded to 3.14".

Because the word pie, when reversed, appears similar to the number 314, International Pi Day is celebrated on 03/14, with participants often engaging in irrational acts, and eating pie. For this year's Pi Day, I hope you will join me in participating in irrational acts, specifically, collecting garbage strewn about by the local rednecks, and later, if the CITO Gods allow, we will eat some pie. If you do opt to CITO before the event, please exercise due caution, as this is a state forest, with all the inherent dangers, found in the Florida woodlands.
This event will take place at the Little Big Econ State Forest pavilion, (the posted coordinates), from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, and its purpose will be to celebrate a succesful CITO of the forest. There are many locations in the forest, that could use your help, and I have listed them as waypoints, on the cache page. You can hike, bike, or simply P&G at the waypoints, gathering what detritus you can.
My personal CITO plans involve kayaks! Yay, kayaking! Giant alligators! Venomous snakes! Lots of beer cans!
If you would like to join my CITO efforts, we will meet at the Little Big Econ Canoe Launch, at 8:00am, and splash our boats. We will paddle 8 miles, taking out at the Snow Hill Bridge, collecting trash along the way. Our little plastic fleet will then load up, and head to the pavilion, to help celebrate our efforts, tell tall tales, schmooze, and eat pie. I will provide trash bags, for the paddlers, and stuff to make s'mores, at the pavilion. Paddlers should bring grabbers, sun screen, lots of water, and snackage.
I will also leave some trash bags, on a bench, in front of the Forestry Office, for the non-paddlers, just in case you need them. Everyone, paddlers and non-paddlers alike, that participates in the CITO, should bring their collected trash to the celebration, at the pavilion.
If you are able, bring some pie to share, or something that goes well with pie, to the pavilion, so we can all have full tummies, while we schmooze.
Hope to see you there!
