Wooers' Alley was once the home and garden of the Artistic Paton family.
Joseph Neil Paton made his fortune as a damask designer. His children became prominant Scottish artists of the 19th century.
Sir Joseph Noel Paton was best known for painting fairies and religious scenes . He designed Dunfermline Abbey's stain glass windows. In 1866 he was appointed Queen's Limmer for Scotland ( official painter to the Monarch ). Knighted in 1867 for his contributions to art.
Amelia Robertson Hill ( nee Paton ) sculptured three figures for the Scott monument, the David Livingstone statue in Edinburgh and the Robert Burns statue in Dumfries.
Waller Hugh Paton was a prominent Scottish landscape artist.
The area has recently been cleared and tidyed up by volunteers .

St. Andrew is the patron Saint of Scotland and fishermen.
He is credited with various miracles such as healing the blind .
St. Andrew's day is the 30th November.
