Geocache Description:

Join me on St. Andrew's Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿  to celebrate 25 years of Geocaching.

In Wooers' Alley at 12 noon - 14.00.

Wooers' Alley was once the home and garden of the Artistic Paton family.

Joseph Neil Paton made his fortune as a damask designer.  His children became prominant Scottish artists of the 19th century.

Sir Joseph Noel Paton was best known for painting fairies and religious scenes . He designed Dunfermline Abbey's stain glass windows. In 1866 he was  appointed Queen's Limmer for Scotland  ( official painter to the Monarch ). Knighted in 1867 for his contributions to art.

Amelia Robertson Hill ( nee Paton ) sculptured three figures for the Scott monument, the David Livingstone statue in Edinburgh and the Robert Burns statue in Dumfries.

Waller Hugh Paton was a prominent Scottish landscape artist.

The area has recently been cleared and tidyed up by volunteers .

Learn more on the day from the recently installed information boards.

St. Andrew  is the patron Saint of Scotland and fishermen.

He is credited with various miracles such as healing the blind .

St. Andrew's day is the 30th November.

There's no guarantee that the Scottish weather will be kind to us.  We can always retreat to the nearby cafe.

Parking is free for 2 hours at Tesco's car park.  After the 2 hours you will be fined.

There is also parking available at the Glen Bridge Car Park - charges apply.
