Geocache Description:

Some of the rest stops along I-70 are reminders that road trips used to be different. They harken back to the time when families would load up the station wagon and head across the country to see new places or visit relatives. When we're on a road trip now, we typically pick up some fast food and eat in the car as we drive, so we get where we are going more quickly. But I remember when road trips were more leisurely. As a child, it was exciting to pull off the interstate at a rest stop, pull the cooler out of the trunk, and have a picnic together! Many of these rest stops still have picnic tables and shelters and charcoal barbecue grills for that purpose, though I rarely see anyone using them now.

We make regular trips between Colorado and Kansas as we drive across I-70 traveling between our current home and the small town in central Kansas where our family lives. The drive can be long, so rest stops are great for some Road Trip Relief. They are even better if they are home to a geocache!

We often need a break to stretch and refresh a bit when we get to this rest stop on the westbound side of I-70. Before now, there hadn't been a geocache here. So here is our prescription for other weary travelers heading west…

Rx: When heading west on I-70 and needing some Road Trip Relief, take the exit for the rest stop at mile marker 97. Park your car and stretch your legs as you walk around and search for this geocache. We hope you find just what the doctor ordered!

Thanks to fellow cacher WesKanDen for being willing to help us maintain this cache since it is far from our home!

Congratulations to car0less for FTF!
