Geocache Description:

Eleuthera comes from the Greek Eleuthero meaning Freedom. The island of Eleuthera was settled on 1647 by English Puritans in search of religious freedom. Originally, Eleuthera was inhabited by Lucayan Indians who called it "Cigatoo".

Greek Twins, Artemis & Apollo were born to Zeus & his mistress, Leto. When Hera, Zeus' wife discovered the affair of Zeus & Leto, she vowed Leto would not give birth on land & cursed all the lands to reject Leto. Poseidon, God of the sea, raised an island from the depths of the sea so that Leto could give birth on a land which had not been cursed. The new island was completely afloat.  Born 1st, Artemis helped her mother birth Apollo & so is considerd the Goddess of Childbirth. At age 4, Apollo hunted down Python, a big snake sent by Hera to terrorize Leto, their mother & so became known as protector & defender of streets & homes. Artemis & Apollo worked in tandem to bring light to the world. Apollo represents the sun and daylight, while Artemis represents the night & moonlight.
