The church is a few meters from the central square of Troodos, hidden within the pine forest. It was built using the characteristic mountain stones found in the area, in the architectural style of an Anglican church. It was built by the British, during colonial rule, for the soldiers who needed a spiritual place. The church caters to the island’s Catholic population, and is often used for religious ceremonies, such as weddings.
Sleek and unobtrusive, with large windows symmetrically lined up on each of its four sides and an elegant bell tower on the west side, the church stands out largely due to the romantic scenery that surrounds it. Its sloping roof is intended to protect it from the weight of snow that accumulates during the winter months, as the angle allows the snow to slide off onto the ground.
