Geocache Description:


"The Sad Castle" is the name of a poem, written by local child - Felicity Lance in 1997. Many children from the village school were inspired to created poems about Harbottle Castle, and this one was chosen by Ted Hughs, a former Poet Lauret to win a national young writers award.

The celebrate this, the stone mason - David Edwick carved her poem, and another by Robert Corley into the Large stone to the left of the car park, overlooking their inspiration.

Park at the Harbottle Castle car park to see this monument and then explore the castles ruins.
