The purpose of this event is to give cachers an opportunity to get together socially, as well as to work together to solve the various puzzle caches that are being released as part of the CARW2025 weekend. While being located in Camrose, of course any Edmonton area cachers which want to attend this event are more than welcome to join us. By having the event earlier in the day, people can easily attend other events later in the day if they wish!
Event Details!!
When: Friday, February 28, 2025 from 12pm to 1pm.
What: Bring a bag lunch and hang out with other C.A.C.H.E.rs (Camrose & Area Cache Hunting Enthusiasts). Bring your puzzle solving skills (or at least your puzzle solving "mooching" skills!).
Where: Camrose Public Library, located at 4710 50 Ave. We will be meeting in the "Sun Room", which is a smaller meeting room located on the lower level of the library. Come in through the main entrance of the library, and then head downstairs using the stairs or elevator located to your left. Once you get downstairs, you will go left once again to the small meeting room. "J" will be down there starting around 11:45am to set up for the event.
Why: Because solving puzzles is fun, and because we all need to eat lunch on that day anyways!!
To clarify, this event is an informal / satellite CARW2025 event, and not the official CARW2025 puzzle solving event (that will be happening later that evening in Edmonton). Please click the following link to be redirected to that event (GCAVZ50).
ABOUT CARW2025
Welcome to CARW2025! Join us from February 27 to March 9, 2025, as we celebrate 25 years of geocaching with themed events, creative caches, and community gatherings in the greater Edmonton area. Many have been awarded Community Celebration Events (CCEs) this year, so let’s get out there and enjoy them!
CARW (Cache and Release Winter) is Northern Alberta’s premier geocaching celebration and ranks among Canada’s longest-running geocaching events. Now in its 19th year, CARW2025 continues its tradition of emphasizing quality caching experiences for geocachers of all skill levels. This year’s theme is Celebrate 25, commemorating the 25th anniversary of geocaching, adding an extra layer of excitement to the celebrations.

What is CARW2025?
CARW2025 stands for Cache and Release Winter 2025. It is a winter gathering of geocachers from Edmonton and the surrounding area, where we search for a number of recently-released, winter-friendly caches.
What do you do on this weekend?
Before the weekend, you create a pocket query from the official bookmark list of geocaches. Attend the official kick off event Thursday February 27, 2025 (GCAYND8). Then starting at 9am on Saturday March 1, you find as many CARW2025 caches as you can! As an added bonus, you can also attend one of the two official wrap-up events (on Sunday March 2 - GCAW114; and on Sunday March 9 - GCAVZA4).
The CARW2024 weekend saw over 140 new winter-friendly caches being released, in addition to 6 event caches. CARW is a great event where you get to act like big kids, find a bunch of caches (including racing for the ever-elusive FTF for those caches!), have fun, meet up with other cachers, and share in the joy of winter geocaching.
