Malaysian Animation

Malaysian animation started with a short hand-drawn animation known as "Hikayat Sang Kancil" (The adventure of Mousedeer) in 1978, although it was released in 1983. In the following years, more of the same style of animation was released with most of the story is based on malay folklore. With the encouragement of Malaysian govenrment, digital technology was introduced in animation. In 2000, the first computer animation was produce in the form of film "Nein Resurrection" and an episode in the series "Skyland". Although 3D elements was already introduced in animation as far back as 1990 through series "Keluang man".  With aggrasive promotion, Malaysian animation industry has gone global with "Saladin: The Animated Series" for Al Jazeera Children's Channel. Since than, Malaysia animation industry has been promoting animated series and films globally that was based on Malaysian value and culture.
