Placed along the scenic loop located in Jeff Davis County, this cache will place you just the the west/northwest of Sawtooth Mountain. While it's on the west side of the highway from this magnificent feature, there is a pull off here. The area beyond the fence to the west of you is private property and should be respected as such. Back in the early 1970's, there was no fence around "The Rock Pile" and it was a frequent destination for people to come climb and even have a picnic at.
This cache is on the far west end of the 75 mile scenic loop and cell service most likely will not be available. Plan accordingly
As always, I want to caution cachers that are not familiar with our area. During summer months, the temperature can be excessive. This is a remote area in regards to cell service and seeing anyone else. You are in the desert of west Texas, and as the saying goes " nearly everything here wants to stick you, sting you, or bite you".
The actual cache is a small bison hanging in a shrub, just off the dirt path. Overgrowth can be significant at times, so be very cautious.
