Geocache Description:

Come and enjoy your section of Canada’s national trail. The Kawartha Trans Canada Trail
offers a natural recreational corridor for people of all ages and abilities. This historic railway bed spans 53.8 km traversing east to west across Kawartha Lakes between Uxbridge
and Peterborough.

You will encounter woodlands, farmlands, wetlands, and communities. For the most part,
the trail is relatively flat, with modest changes in elevation throughout its entire length. Trail users will find facilities such as benches, bicycle racks, and picnic shelters along the way

The corridor originated as a railway in 1858. After serving the region for more than a century the aging line was removed. The opportunity to be a vital link on the Trans Canada Trail led trail enthusiasts to commence building the Kawartha segment in 2000. It was completed during the summer of 2014.

I found this interesting and helpful plant guide on line if you are interested.
