Leshy
is one of the most fascinating and eerie figures in Slavic folklore, the guardian spirit of the forest. Often appearing as an old man with a long beard, Leshy is a shapeshifter who can change size at will, growing as tall as the trees or shrinking down to the size of a blade of grass. His skin is pale like bark, and his hair and beard are tangled with moss and leaves. Though he’s mostly a trickster, playing pranks on those who enter his woods, he can be terrifying when angered.
One day, a group of geocachers decided to venture deep into the woods, boasting about their skills. The Leshy appeared, grinning mischievously. “You think you can just wander in here? I’ll show you what it means to be lost!” Suddenly, the trees twisted, and the adventurers found themselves walking in circles.
As the geocachers scrambled to find their way back, they learned an important lesson: in the realm of the Leshy, it's best to respect nature and stay on the trails, or you might just become part of the forest’s next tall tale!
Happy Halloween!
