Mingzhu Xincun (明珠新村) is an unusual 'New Village' because the building stock is much more like an ultra-dense urban village than a more regularly spaced 7-10 storey type of building typically named in this way.
Mingzhu Xincun features an incredibly attractive and successful waterfront pathway which was one of many impressive projects built in 2009-2010 in the city as part of the greenways and upgrading associated with the Asian Games. The waterfront was initially inaccessible but is now perfectly blended into the community and features like an extended living room of the dense housing. Meanwhile the pathway along the water has remained continuous even as another impressive dragon boat dock has been added.
The opposite side of the river here has been equally well designed and features stairs where people presumably living in the ultra dense village behind like to sit and enjoy the expansive views. Stealth is required to avoid these onlookers spotting the cache.
