Looking for something to do on Melbourne Cup Day? Why not head down to Albert Park for a picnic! There are plenty of BBQs in the area if you want to get your sizzle on, or bring some other picnic staples for your lunch.
Where: The picnic tables at the northern end of Albert Park
When: Tuesday 5 November 2024 (Melbourne Cup Day)
Time: 11am - 12pm (and possibly later)
What to bring: your own food & drink. This is not a catered event. There are some food outlets nearby, but this is a public holiday so they may not be open.
BYO sunscreen, a hat, or appropriate attire if rain is forecast.
It might be a bit busy here if the weather is nice, so bring a rug or chair to sit on if you plan on staying awhile.
Hoping to see you there. Race day headwear entirely optional!
Note: if coming by public transport, the tram is your best option. It runs down Clarendon St (from Southern Cross) and turns into Albert Road. Alight at stop 130 and it is a short walk from there.
