I'm not sure when these portaloos appearred but it was probably about a year ago following the opening of the shared cycle/walkway extension from St Leonards to Port Chalmers. I had intended to make this a mystery as I don't know how long they will be here before a permanent building goes in but I couldn't get the tool that I normally used to sort out the distance and angle. The city has a policy of putting in two new toilets a year and upgrading two older ones.
These portaloos are much needed as the nearest facilities are GCAZ138 in Port Chalmers, or GCANVX3 in Magnet St, close to the Forsyth Stadium, a long walk away. The two units have been clean and tidy whenever I've looked in on them. Like portaloos in general, no hand drying facilities are provided. There is car parking by the units but please take care if your doing any right hand turning to enter or exit as the adjacent road is a state highway that has many logging truck a day passing. For those with plenty of time up their sleeves it can be a pleasnat ride to the given coordinates. Getting from there to the cache will require some minor hill work. I advise you not to drive the very last section of road to the cache as turning could be progematic.
The bus from the city hub to Port Chamers goes by every 30 min. There is no bus stop by the starting coordinates or the cache but if your up for some walking it is doable and there are other caches you could pick up while on your walk.
