Join us to celebrate the 17 year anniversary of the church micro.
Thursday 7th November 2024 between 18:30 - 20:30.
The Church Micro series began on November 7th 2007 with the publication of Church Micro 1...Earlswood (GC17878) by sadexploration, who intended to place more and hoped others would join in - what he didn't expect is that it would expand to become the largest series of caches in the geocaching world with now over 17,000 caches published under the Church Micro name in the UK. Other countries have followed suit and there are similar series in Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Spain and Australia.
Church Micro Anniversary events began in 2017, the year of the 10th Anniversary and have been held ever since - events are being held up and down the country to celebrate the 17th Anniversary of this great series. You will be able to add the below souvenirs to your profile afterwards if you attend the event. (either lift it from here, or html code is available from the church micro website).

This year we are returning to the appropriately named 'Church Inn' which is directly opposite the The Parish Church of Saint Chad, Saddleworth. This scenic country church is nestled up in the countryside above Uppermill and other than the Church Inn pub opposite, it sits in peaceful isolation. It is certainly one of the only churches in the area to essentially have it's own pub!
The venue have allocated Hitminister an area of the pub for us to use for the event. The Old Brewhouse, situated at the side of the pub, had been in use as a brewery 150 years ago. It was restored in 1997 and the pub is now independently run by a local brewery offering their own ales, and food is served daily for anyone wishing to eat.

Please note, no religious leaning of any kind is required to attend the event, in most cases people enjoy church micros for the history and architecture associated with the buildings they visit. The event will celebrate the church micro, as well as allowing ample time for general geocaching chit chatter, nattering and general blathering.
The below souvenir can also be added to your profile for finding a church micro on the 17th anniversary.
