Welcome to my 29 Days of Christmas! Here I celebrate all the things I love about the season!
Today it’s Black Friday.

Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It traditionally marks the start of the Christmas shopping season. Many stores offer highly promoted sales at discounted prices and often open early, sometimes as early as midnight or even on Thanksgiving.
Depending on your source the term may mean:
- In the 1950s, factory managers used the term to describe when many workers called in sick to extend the holiday weekend.
- In the 1960s, Philadelphia police used the term to describe the chaos of long shifts and heavy traffic caused by holiday shoppers and the Army-Navy football game.
- In the 1980s, retailers began using the term to describe when they would move from operating at a deficit (red) to operating at a profit (black).
Black Friday became a well-established tradition in the United States in the late 1980s. It has since spread internationally.
For me its a day for my labor of love in my yard to get my Christmas decor up an lit for the that night’s premiere for the neighborhood.
