The Grey Cup was donated by Earl Grey, Governor General of Canada in 1909 to be awarded to the winners of the Canadian Dominion Football Championship. The Toronto Varsity Blues were the first Grey Cup champions that year, though they weren't presented with the trophy after the game as it wasn't finished yet. Since the formation of the Canadian Football League in 1957, the Grey Cup has been awarded to the winner of the league championship game.
The Grey Cup was always played on a Saturday until 1968. Although the game itself has not been played on a Saturday since 1970, we are hosting an event for geocachers on Saturday, November 16th. Attendees are encouraged to wear the colours of their favourite CFL team.
