This is a series highlighting small cemeteries that I have found interesting.
The Boyer Family Cemetery, located within the confines of the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, is one of at least three known cemeteries that remains to tell the stories of the 63 familes whose land was acquired by the state of Pennsylvania by eminent domain for the creation of the refuge in the 1960's and 1970's. There are four stones (two headstones and two footstones) visible surrounding a large tree within a chain-linked rope overlooking the Middle Creek Reservoir. Unlike the Gockley Family Cemetery (Cemetery ID# 2346095) located on game commission land, the Boyer Family Cemetery is accessible to the general public without prior permission. The cemetery can be reached from the parking lot of the Middle Creek Visitors Center outside of Kleinfeltersville (physical address: 100 Museum Rd, Stevens, PA 17578) by using the #1 Conservation Trail. The cemetery is approximately .2 miles from the parking lot and can be seen from the visitors center.
