This cache is located on the shortcut track between Cheong Street and the Eastfield Road bridge.
The fence along the railway line was installed in 2014 to keep people safe from trains. Initially the contractors took the easy way and joined the metal fence to the existing wooden property fence at the bottom of this track, thus blocking access to the Maroondah Lakes Scenic Walk! The residents of Cheong Street were angry to lose their walking path, and so Ruth, Don and Carol led a petition to Council. Council listened to the local voices and reopened and enhanced this beautiful shady thruway. This path is now used by many people daily on their commute to the station, schools and shops.
