An abandoned school where children's voices can no longer be heard.
Schools that no longer have people in them will eventually fade from memory as they fall into disuse.
We would like to preserve the memory of the school building so that people will not forget that they were learning there.
≪Sugatani Elementary School≫
Founded: 1873
The predecessor schools, Koide School attached to private school Kuramitsu School and Terauchi School attached to private school Terauchi School, were opened.
In 1874, the name was changed to “Kuramitsu Gakko Annex Koide Gakko” and “Annex Terauchi Gakko”.
In 1877, the attached Koide School and the attached Terauchi School were integrated, and the attached Shimo Koide School was opened.
In 1883, the school became independent and was renamed Sugatani Public Elementary School.
In 1885, it was renamed Sugatani Public Elementary School.
In 1887, it was renamed the Sugatani Elementary School.
In 1892, it was renamed Sugaya Elementary School in Sugaya Village.
In 1897, it added a high school department and was renamed Sugatani Vulgar Elementary School in Sugatani Village.
In 1902, the high school was abolished and the name was changed to Sugatani Vulgar Elementary School in Sugaya Village.
Renamed Sugatani National School in 1941.
Renamed Sugatani Elementary School in 1947.
In 1955, the name was changed to Shibata Municipal Sugatani Elementary School due to a merger of municipalities.
In 1981, it merged with Shibata Municipal Ishikawa Elementary School and Shibata Municipal Shimonakayama Elementary School.

子どもの声が聞こえなくなった廃校。
人がいなくなった学校は廃れていく中で、いずれ記憶からも消えていってしまいます。
そこで人々が学んでいたということを忘れないために、学舎の記憶を残してていこうと思います。
≪菅谷小学校≫
創立：1873年
・前身となる私学蔵光校附属小出校、附属寺内校が開校。
・1874年に公立第二十五番小学蔵光校附属小出校、附属寺内校と改称。
・1877年に附属小出校と附属寺内校が統合し、附属下小出校が開校。
・1883年に独立し、公立小学菅谷校と改称。
・1885年に公立菅谷小学校と改称。
・1887年に尋常科菅谷小学校と改称。
・1892年に菅谷村立菅谷尋常小学校と改称。
・1897年に高等科を併置し、菅谷村立菅谷尋常高等小学校と改称。
・1902年に高等科を廃し、菅谷村立菅谷尋常小学校と改称。
・1941年に菅谷村立菅谷国民学校と改称。
・1947年に菅谷村立菅谷小学校と改称。
・1955年に市町村合併により新発田市立菅谷小学校と改称。
・1981年に新発田市立石川小学校、新発田市立下中山小学校を統合。
