◼️醸造の町 摂田屋(せったや)

摂田屋はかつて江戸幕府の御領地として、長岡最古の酒造“吉乃川酒造”を中心に、酒・味噌・醤油などの醸造で栄えた歴史地区です。
また、長岡空襲を受けなかった地域のため、戦前から残された蔵や町家が多い地域です(国の指定重要文化財の建物もあります)。
“醸造の町”と謳われているように、辺りには甘い発酵の香りが漂い、独特の雰囲気が楽しめる散策スポットです。
なかでも個人的なおすすめは、「サフラン酒の蔵」。歴史ある薬草酒の蔵で、“日本一の鏝絵(こてえ)”と称される豪華絢爛な装飾が見どころです。
キャッシュ探しのついでに、ぜひ“醸造の町”を楽しんでみてください。
隠し場所
現地は観光スポットの為、防犯カメラが多く、キャッシュの隠し場所にはかなり悩みました。そして見つけたのがカメラの無い&人通りもそこまで多くないこの通りでした。ちょっとわかりにくいかもしれませんので、隠し場所の写真を付けておきます。自力で探したい方は頑張って…！
⬛︎Settaya Brewing Town
Tip: Before heading here, pick up a pamphlet with a detailed map at Miyauchi Station.
Just ask the staff, “Settaya no pamphlet kudasai,” and they’ll give you one.
Settaya is a historic district that once prospered under the direct control of the Edo Shogunate. Centered around Yoshinogawa Brewery, the oldest sake brewery in Nagaoka, the area flourished with the production of sake, miso, soy sauce, and other fermented goods.
Because Settaya was not damaged during the Nagaoka Air Raid, many pre-war storehouses and traditional townhouses still remain today—some of them designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan.
As its nickname “Brewing Town” suggests, the gentle, sweet aroma of fermentation drifts through the streets, creating a unique atmosphere that’s perfect for a leisurely walk.
My personal recommendation is the Saffron Liquor Brewery, known for its historic herbal liqueur and its stunning “kote-e” plaster reliefs, often said to be among the finest in Japan.
While you hunt for the cache, take some time to enjoy this charming town filled with history and craftsmanship.
About the Hide
Since this area is a popular tourist spot, there are many security cameras around—so finding a suitable hiding place was quite a challenge.
Eventually, I found this side street with no cameras and relatively few passersby.
It may be a little tricky to spot, so I’ve attached a photo of the location.
