Geocache Description:


In recognition of the deep history and culture of Lutruwita, we acknowledge and pay our respects to all Tasmanian Aboriginal people, in particular their Elders, past and present. We specifically acknowledge the Mumirimina People of the Oyster Bay Tribe, the Traditional Owners of the land on which The Tassie Event is being held. We extend our respects to their Elders, past and present who have resided in the area and have been an integral part of the history of this region.

The Tassie Event 2026

  • What: A fun filled Mega Event in the great state of Tasmania!
  • When: 7th to the 8th of March 2026
  • Where: South East Stadium at Pembroke Park, 13 Montagu Street, Sorell TAS 7172
  • Why: To celebrate the very first Major Event in Tasmania, Australia

The Tassie Event is set to be the next big event and the first ever Mega held in Tasmania. This is a chance for geocachers from all across Tasmania, Australia and around the world to come together and celebrate geocaching in its 26th year. The Tassie Event follows on from a decade of successful Victorian geocaching events including:

The main event will run across Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of March 2026.

Save the date in your calendar and log your will attend now! In your will attend log, please let us know how many people from your team are joining us, using the format "At Number At". For two people write @2@ and for thirteen @13@

What is happening?

The full event schedule will be available closer to the event, however it will be filled with:

  • side events
  • a CITO
  • information sessions
  • a Saturday evening activity
  • geocaching displays and other community stalls
  • gadget Caches
  • new geocaches
  • plenty more activities to be shared
  • Plenty of new geocaches and adventure labs are also planned, and a series of lead in events beginning from the north west of the state will be available for early arrivals.
