BYOP! Should be a quick P&G, but stop and enjoy the art for a while!
Indiana has become home to several beautiful murals over the last decade or so. This is the largest and most recent addition. Most of the murals, including this one, are sponsored by the Indiana Arts Council and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. For the most part, the murals are painted by aspiring young artists and local painters, with a few by contracted freelancers. Officially, there are between 17- 20 such pieces of art around town, depending on how you count.
Other locations around town include:
Metamorphosis, Coal Miner, and Creative Spirit on the intersection of Nixon Ave and Carpenter Ave;
Community Perspective, Sunflower, Bear, Her Voice Carries, and American Kestrel along 6th St between Philly St and Gompers Ave
It's a Wonderful Life Wall, Edward Abbey, Creative Sustainability, Ratchi with a Wave, and Bicycle Pups along Gompers Ave between 6th St and 5th St; and
A Vision for Downtown: Building on the Past right across the street from this cache.
Please be respectful of the paintings and appreciate the time, energy, and hard work the artists have put into them!
