Enjoy this cache on your way up to the top of Little Mount Washington. This is a great little hike to do with dogs and kids if you dont mind them getting a bit dirty. There are a lot of mud puddles along the way that they will want to run through (but are easy to go around if you aren't so inclined), and here at Chase Pond there are all the newts and frogs a kid could hope to catch while knee deep in water while you sit and picnic. This is a large container that I packed full of trading items mostly geared towards kids, although adults may find something they like in there too. I like to follow the geocache etiquette of "caching up" and leaving an item of equal or greater quality to keep this a nice cache for families to discover.
There aren't often a lot of hikers out here, it is more often used for ATVs and the like. But you won't run into a ton, if any, of them either. I love this trail for being a relative place of solitude when wanted/needed. You feel like you're far from civilization. The hike is about 3.5 miles up and back if you're going all the way to the peak. You'll pass a warming hut to start and then at the first split you take a right. You'll want to get the trail up on AllTrails because it isn't marked all that well and there are random trails that go off here and there, so that app helps you stay your course. The view at the top is very nice all year, but especially during leaf peeping season.
Parking is at the end of Miller Pond Road in Grantham. There's a decent sized parking lot that can fit quite a few cars.
