Geocache Description:

Time to Celebrate the 3rd Annual Richmond Parks & Recreation GeoTrail Kickoff Event

(Annually - 3rd Weekend of October)

It's a Community Celebration! Make plans to join Geocachers from near and far to attend our 3rd Annual Geo Event hosted by the Richmond Outdoor Committee (ROCK), a committee of park staff and volunteers serving the Richmond Parks & Recreation Department in Richmond, KY.

This event is designed as the anchor event for a weekend full of Geocaching fun that will kick off our 3rd Annual GeoTrail launch. We have coordinated with additional Geocaching volunteers who will be hosting their own individual events to expand our Geo Weekend in Richmond, KY (for example: a Friday evening Meet & Greet, a Saturday evening "What Are Geocaching Events?" meet up, and a Sunday morning CITO).

During this event, you'll get to participate in fun Geocaching games, earn exciting door prizes, hang out with other Geocachers, learn tips & tricks to find caches faster, or solve gadget caches more efficiently, PLUS join in our nostalgic 3rd Annual event group photo. After the photo, you'll get to the main purpose of the day - the launch of our brand new caches! (The most valuable part of attending this event is obtaining the printout of the caches that will launch (yes - you'll be privy to some hints about new launches ahead of the general public.)

Over the weekend, we will launch 30+ new caches that will align with "Cultural Roots" and our Year #3 theme There will be a Passport available with instructions for completing the GeoTrail. Pick these up onsite, or print one out after the event on the Richmond KY Parks & Rec website (previous year caches and Passports are available thru Oct 31st annually). Once your Passport is completed, you can submit it to the Richmond KY Parks & Rec office (located at 345 Lancaster Rd in Richmond, KY 40475) to earn your custom designed GeoTrail souvenir. (Our 2025-2026 souvenir is made by one of our own geocachers - DK1312 - in honor of our local artisan and "Cultural Roots"). We encourage you to show off your souvenir and your completion of our Year #3 GeoTrail.

This event is FREE and open to anyone with a curiosity about Geocaching. For more information, contact Jaime Moore at the Richmond Parks & Recreation KY Dept at (859) 623-8753 or stop by 345 Lancaster Rd in Richmond KY (Office Hours: M-F 8am-4:30pm)
